Good day! This is Karmelo Louie Aquino Antonio, the founder of Skatersthinkph (alongside my honorary co-founder, Sebastian T. Fabricante (Rest in Peace)).The primary purpose of Skaterthinkph is to give Filipino scientists, artists and the like (such as theologians, political theorists/analysts, etc) a voice and a platform in the Philippines where they can lay down their products, express their thoughts on certain issues, let the world know more about their vision, collaborate with other like-minded peers through more theatrical and interesting ways as a means to reach a wider and broader audience. I believe that you are personally a good partner/collaborator for Skatersthinkph as your vision in uplifting the Filipino people, particularly the scientists, artists and the like. Here is a general overview of our vision:
It primarily seeks to fill the gap that the country has left in the field of science, technology, art and the like. We offer a platform to the individuals who want to share their scientific and artistic projects but do not have the proper place or funding to do so. We want those who pursue science and the humanities to not give up their passion but rather develop it in the nation that was meant to nurture them. The core value of Skatersthinkph is that curiosity, knowledge and imagination are bedrocks of society which in turn becomes expressed through science, research, arts and the like, which then functions as pillars of our community. The issue in place is, what if the community in question has the curiosity, knowledge and imagination but does not have a proper medium or support to express it? The tendency is, the people tend to seek support outside of the country and will usually be controlled externally by different firms. The goal of our platform is to, in a way, act as a support system for these individuals so that they may maintain their independence and control over their own work and also have a hassle-free system to publicize their works, all while nurturing their sense of national pride.
It primarily functions as a crowdfunding medium and platform for different scientists, artists, experts and the like to publicize their respective projects and endeavors for other people to donate to should they be interested in whatever project they read, and have the chance to help it grow. Any individual can sign up an account to both publicize/publish their work and donate to other individual projects.
A very weird and interesting name for a platform centered around science and arts. But the name is actually an acronym for "Sebastian and Karmelo, Thinkers and Debaters from the Philippines." It was actually Sebastian's idea for the term, which we thought of during a random P.E. session, and we played on the word "Skater" as a metaphor for the way we think and express our ideas, much like how skaters navigate through obstacles with creativity and skill. The "thinkph" part emphasizes our focus on thoughtful discourse and innovation within the Philippine context.
Funnily enough, the concept first arose when Sebastian and I debated topics in theology and we thought of posting them online. However we wanted to branch out the movement to broader intellectual endeavors, and we boiled it down to a platform for Philippine artists and scientists.
